Molly the Fire Safety Dog is the official ambassador for documentary ‘Superpower Dogs’

The latest documentary From IMAX, Cosmic Picture and Mars Petcare follows the inspiring adventures of heroic dogs and will launch in IMAX theatres beginning March 15.

CLARKSVILLE, Ark. — Molly the Fire Safety Dog of Clarksville and her owner, retired firefighter, Dayna Hilton, love helping keep children fire safe.

In September 2016, Molly was honored to have “Official Ambassador” for the Upcoming IMAX® Documentary, Superpower Dogs, added to her already impressive resume.

“The moment I first heard about the film, I knew it was going to be epic. Molly and I wanted to help contribute our time and talents to be a part of the documentary that takes audiences on an immersive IMAX adventure to experience the life-saving superpowers and extraordinary bravery of some of the world's most amazing dogs,” said Hilton.

“I have witnessed first-hand the power of canines, through my first dog, Sparkles (the Fire Safety Dog), and now, Molly. Even though Sparkles passed away in 2010, she is still helping save lives. The Keep Kids Fire Safe Foundation was founded in honor of Sparkles and Molly continues to carry on the work Sparkles started to help reduce fire related deaths and injuries among children and their families. To date, Molly and Sparkles have helped save the lives of 9 children and 3 adults involved in actual fire-related situations.”

“The filmmakers behind the acclaimed documentaries Jerusalem and Journey to Mecca were another strong point for wanting to become a part of such an amazing project. Superpower Dogs Writer/Director Daniel Ferguson and Producers Taran Davies, George Duffield and Dominic Cunningham-Reid have not only impressive resumes, but their love for dogs and the human/dog connection is something you will be able to see and experience in Superpower Dogs.”

Superpower Dogs celebrates the superpowers in all dogs and Molly demonstrates this every day in her work with children and fire safety.” said Davies. “We are proud to call Molly a Superpower Dogs Ambassador and look forward to supporting her work with children worldwide.”

Superpower Dogs follows six real-life canine superheroes and their human partners as they brave earthquakes and avalanches, protect endangered species such as rhinos and elephants and transform the lives of people with special needs. Audiences will discover the amazing abilities of different breeds and the astonishing science behind their superpowers, including:

'Halo', a rookie puppy training to join one of the most elite disaster response teams in America;

'Henry', an avalanche rescue expert saving lives in the Canadian Rockies;

'Reef', a Newfoundland lifeguard in the Italian Coast Guard;

'Ricochet', a surf and therapy legend in California who heals people with special needs;

'Tipper and Tony', Bloodhound brothers leading the fight to save endangered species in Africa.

In April 2018, the fire safety duo traveled to Los Angeles to participate in the final scene of the movie, an experience Hilton claimed she would never forget. “Molly and I were in Washington, DC, participating in a conference for fire safety educators. The minute the conference was over, we drove across the country in four days to arrive in LA in time for the filming. We were exhausted, but we would do it again in a heartbeat to be part of the experience.”

“What stood out most to me that sunny day in LA, were Taran and Daniel, both coming over to thank us for making the trip and for being a part of the project. Throughout this entire process, this has meant the most to me,” stated Hilton.

In addition to the filming, Molly also helped set the Guinness World Record title for the "Largest dog photo shoot" with 107 of her canine friends that day.

Molly and Hilton then traveled to San Diego to watch one of their friends and star of the film, Surf Dog Ricochet, film her segment. Ricochet is a therapy dog who helps veterans afflicted with PTSD. “Ricochet and her human, Judy Fridono, and I have been friends on Facebook for over ten years. I have heard about the work Ricochet has done since she was very young, but it was truly amazing to see her work her magic in person,” said Hilton.

On March 2nd, Molly will travel across country once again to LA in her “SpotMobile” to walk the red carpet and attend the premiere of Superpower Dogs on March 9th. The two will then travel to San Diego for the premiere on March 13th.
