Some of us dream of becoming a doctor, a pro athlete, even the President of the United States, but many like Kellan Cash dream to become a garbage man.

Some of us dream of becoming a doctor, a pro athlete, even the President of the United States, but many like Kellan Cash dream to become a garbage man.

Morgan Roberts knows what it’s like to want to be a garbage man.

As a little boy, it was his dream.

Fast forward 50 years, he now owns his own trash pick up service Roberts Trash Service in Saline County.

It was at 2 years old he became mesmerized.

“It’s just something about a big truck and the sounds it makes,” said Roberts.

"I've just always liked helping people and being a part of the community."

On Wednesday, with it being National Garbage Man and Sanitation Worker Appreciation Week, Roberts wanted to surprise another little boy who has the same aspirations he once had.

Roberts made a special route to Kellan Cash’s house in Benton, honked his horn and watched the 8-year-old run out of his home to the truck.

He gave the little boy a toy trash truck of his own to play with and gave him a tour of the “real” truck.

Kellan learned the ropes of trash-pick up, how all the machines operate, and the many trash cans the men pick up every day.

He even got to take his own miniature route around his block.

"It just reminded me of when I was a young kid,” said Roberts. “That was me when I was his age.”

Roberts felt a bit nostalgic but said even though Kellan kept a big smile on his face, it was the little boy who brought joy to Roberts’ day.

“It makes you feel good that you are making them happy for a day, it's just part of the job,” said Roberts.
