JONESBORO, Ark. (KTHV) - Jonesboro police, S.W.A.T. and Arkansas State Police are investigating after a shooting turned into a standoff on Gladiolus Drive in Jonesboro.

According to the press release, Jonesboro police received a call at 3 p.m. that someone had been shot multiple times. Once officers arrived, they were able to get the victim, a 41-year-old man, to the hospital. However, the suspect, a 56-year-old woman, refused to leave the home or surrender to the police.

Numerous negotiation attempts were made by both Jonesboro PD and S.W.A.T., but after several hours of negotiating, the officers decided to deploy K9 Officer Gabo into the home to help detain the woman.

Once in the home, the woman fired at and shot Gabo and following officers. The suspect was then shot and arrested by the officers. Medical care was immediately provided and officers believe the woman is no longer a threat.

According to the press release, Gabo is in good spirits and is being treated by a veterinarian. He is in stable condition. No other officer was injured.

The condition of the 41-year-old man is unknown at this time, though he was transferred to a Memphis hospital.
