BENTON, Ark. (KTHV)- As the Saline river continues to rise, it's flooding everything in its path.
Lyle Park in Benton was shut down Wednesday afternoon until the flood waters recede but it's not stopping the locals from snapping a picture of mother nature at work.
“My friend was just up here and said I needed to come down here, so I came down here to take a picture of the flooding,” Benton resident, Rodger Hodge said.
Saline River Canoe is right beside the park and owner, Michael Sacomani, said he had to move all of his equipment to higher ground.
“By the boat ramp, it's about 15 feet under water and up here in the parking lot it's about two feet under water. If it keeps raining we're going to have to move our canoes to even higher ground,” he said.
Lyle Park isn't the only thing underwater, Darryl Nalley said the pond behind his friends house is actually a cow pasture and with it almost completely flooded, the cows have barely any dry land left.
“They know when it's going to get bad so they find the highest spot to go to and if worst comes to worst we will get the tractor and get them out,” he said.
The Saline River is expected to crest sometime late Feb. 21 into the early morning of Feb. 22.
