UPDATE: West was located at approximately 8:45 PM on Feb. 24th and is back safe with his family.
ORIGINAL: BENTON, Ark. (KTHV) — The Benton Police Department has issued a silver alert for Percy West, an 82-year-old resident of Benton who has dementia.
West was reported missing by family members on the afternoon of Feb. 24.
He is 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 175 pounds and has long white hair and blue eyes. West was last seen wearing a blue, short-sleeved shirt with khaki pants, a red jacket with "Entergy" embroidered on the left chest, a red hat and glasses.
“In addition to dementia, he is a diabetic and also has leukemia, so we are doing everything possible to ensure his safe return," a spokesperson for the Benton Police department said.
The spokesperson also said that West's family noted he does not usually venture far from home but has mentioned visiting Oklahoma recently, his family's home state.
“This is only a theory at this point in time, but we realize any piece of information can help lead us to Mr. West,” the spokesperson said.
The vehicle he is driving is a gold 2005 Chevrolet Equinox. It was last spotted at Alcoa and Northshore in the Sleepy Village subdivision around 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 24.
Due to his dementia, West may be combative if approached.
Anyone with information about the possible whereabouts of West should contact the Benton Police Department at 501-778-1171 or 501-315-TIPS, or dial 911.
