'Extremely oversized' load to be transported through northeast Arkansas

An oversized load dubbed as a "superload" will make its way through highways in northeast Arkansas on Jan. 28.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — If you are driving in northeast Arkansas on Sunday, Jan. 28 be prepared to face some delays as an oversized load dubbed as a "superload" will be traveling through several counties.

The "extremely oversized load" will be transported from the Missouri state line through Fulton, Sharp, Independence, Jackson, Craighead, and Mississipi counties.

The load, which is a large silo lid, is being transported to the Big River Steel Mill near Osceola. The silo lid weighs around 110 tons and measures 16 feet tall and 15 feet wide.

Crews with the Arkansas Department of Transportation will assist the transport beginning at dawn on Jan. 28 and is expected to be completed by 1 p.m. that day. Below you can find a map of the route the superload will travel.
