LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Shayla Teater is the News Director at THV11 in Little Rock, Arkansas. As a Little Rock native, “This is Home” means so much more to her than it just being the brand of THV11.
Shayla got her Broadcast Journalism degree through the University of Missouri School of Journalism, while learning to both produce and report at the NBC affiliate in Columbia, MO.
She is a news junkie through and through, as she grew up knowing she wanted to be a journalist. She spent her Friday nights at the TV station watching her dad, Doug Krile, anchor the news. She has spent most of her career in Little Rock producing newscasts, and managing, but also spent a year at WFMY in Greensboro as the 11 p.m. producer.
In her 15 years with TEGNA (formerly Gannett) Shayla has produced during countless breaking news events including deadly tornadoes, the shooting of Democratic Party Chairman Bill Gwatney, the release of the West Memphis 3 from prison, and the Mayflower Oil Spill. She has received two Mid-America Regional Emmy awards for her producing both newscasts and news specials. She is most proud however, of teaching the passion of journalism to her staff and watching their creativity grow.
When she isn’t working to make local news better, she loves spending time with her family.
She looks cooking and creating new healthy recipes with her husband, Bryce. Her favorite part of the week is Sunday night dinner with her parents. She also has a love for teaching others a passion for health, wellness and being active. Shayla also loves to travel, especially to Las Vegas and the beach.
