LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Natural State is a place that is full of many talented filmmakers.

To showcase some of the great works of Arkansas filmmakers, the Arkansas Cinema Society's Filmland: Arkansas 2024 program will be bringing their works to the big screen at the Performing Arts Theater at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts on August 15-18, 2024.

The selected films that will be showcased were chosen by a committee of both filmmakers and film lovers.

Arkansas Cinema Society Executive Director Kathryn Tucker explained how the submissions for the line-up have grown each year and she is thrilled about the growth that they have seen.

“It’s so encouraging to see the number of submissions for Filmland: Arkansas grow every year, ” said Tucker. “There’s so much happening across the state now to inspire and provide opportunities for up-and-coming Arkansas filmmakers. That is and has always been the ACS mission - all ships rise when we have a connected, unified film community that supports one another and all of our collaborative efforts. We are happy that Filmland: Arkansas can play a part in that and provide the opportunity for filmmakers to network and exhibit their work in the beautiful state-of-the-art cinema at AMFA.”

Though Filmland: Arkansas is non-competitive, all of the selected August films are eligible for the Audience Award in their category. Thanks to Panavision, each year the winners of the Professional Shorts and Feature Film Audience Awards earn a Panavision New Filmmaker Program equipment grant which is about $15,000 for the audience favorite short film, and then a $60,000 grant is given to the audience favorite for feature film.
