LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — On paper, Like A Boss looks like it could be a very fun comedy.
Instead, what we got is a bunch of talented people being wasted on a boring, run-of-the-mill comedy.
The films stars Tiffany Haddish and Rose Byrne as two besties who have started their own makeup company, but they are hemorrhaging money. Salma Hayek comes along to help them out since she owns a huge makeup conglomerate and wants to control their company.
The setup is simple and everything makes sense, it just falls apart when the movie tries to be comedic.
Spoiler alert: It's not very funny at all and is actually bad.
Haddish tries her best to overcome the bad comedy, but you can only do so much.
The cast is actually great if you think about it. Rose Byrne has proved herself capable in comedies, Haddish is amazing, Hayek is a great actress and Billy Porter is just the best.
Let him play himself in everything for the rest of eternity.
But overall, the movie is boring and sometimes there's not even any comedy at all.
If you've got Tiffany Haddish in your comedy movie, you have to go all out comedy and what we got was...basically nothing. Oh, and some truly terrifying fake teeth on Salma Hayek's character.
