DARDANELLE, Arkansas — The Discover Arkansas Team went back to a favorite! Last fall the team was at Mt. Nebo in Dardanelle on Hwy 207 to look at beautiful fall foliage.

Since Mount Nebo is a year round destination, the team decided to head back and see what the State Park has to offer during the warmer weather months.

Camping is one of the most common activities on the mountain. There are fifteen cabins for rent and each one has a fantastic view of the river valley. If camping is more your thing, there are over 30 camp sites available. A swimming pool overlooking the river valley is also available for use along with tennis courts, picnic areas and pavilions. One of our favorite parts is stopping by the visitor’s center to explore the gift shop and greet our favorite Park Interpreter, Jackie. At the visitor’s center, you can also watch hang gliders take off.

While walking around and exploring, don’t be shocked if you see deer wandering around.

It is no surprise that the park is filled with hiking trails. Exploring is easy when the park has fourteen miles of hiking and biking trails! They range from easy to strenuous and with Mount Nebo towering at 1,350 ft., all trails have incredible views.

One of the newest additions to the state park is the Monument Trail. This is a seven mile mountain biking trail that allows you to explore parts of the park that were not as easy to access before. Walkers are allowed on the trail as well. A few of the mountain bikers we spoke to said it was their favorite trail in the area!

Seventeen more miles have recently been approved to add on to the trail. This will bring green, blue, and black trail options including a variety of terrain for riders of all experiences.
