Follow the turtle rocks to a 500-year-old cave in an Arkansas state park

Native American artwork still exists on the walls and ceiling of the Rock House Cave near Morrilton, Arkansas.

MORRILTON, Arkansas — For decades, Arkansas families have taken advantage of the trails, waterfalls and campgrounds at Petit Jean State Park. Most visitors don't realize there's a 'cave' hidden in the woods near Morrilton.

Rock House Cave is actually a large rock shelter. It dates back 500 years ago. Park guests can take a .25 mile trail to see the cave. It's full of Native American rock art. This trail includes geological formations called Turtle Rocks.

While the trail is quick to walk, it's uneven terrain. This may not be a good trail for people with physical disabilities.
