LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas — Deana Williams with a Transformational Life Coach and author of Get M.O.V.E.D.
Here are Deana's three C's for conflict resolution:
Common ground: Meet at a mutual location. Public if possible, this will provide a less threatening atmosphere. Have a mediator present if necessary.
Communication: Use dialogue and not monologue. Each person should listen to respond; not to react. Each person must be engaged and active in the process. Be sure to communicate one thing at a time and do not "shovel" issues.
Compromise: Both parties must be willing to give a little. Have a mutual understanding of the expected outcome. This affords the opportunity to agree to disagree respectfully. Be sure to end on a positive note!
