BRYANT, Ark. — In the heart of Saline County in Bryant, Blue House Bakery and Cafe has brought the community together with their amazing family recipes that have been handed down for generations.
Sisters Jill Averitt and Joy Billson co-own the restaurant, which they say is a dream come true.
"In 2019 is when we decided, let's do this thing," Jill said.
The inspiration for the name came from one of their childhood homes growing up, the Blue House. Joy found her love for baking in that blue house where they grew up. It was actually built by their father and oldest brother, so naturally it was a perfect fit to name their bakery after.
"We want people to come in and feel like family. You can come into our dining room and have a meal. We also have a front porch if you'd rather sit outside," Jill added.
Joy has been using the same chocolate chip recipe since she was 10 years old and continues to use that same recipe at Blue House.
"All of our recipes are pretty much made from scratch. The biscuits are my mom's recipe that she has made our whole entire life," she said.
The fan favorite seems to be the biscuits with chocolate gravy. The menu also features pancakes, a breakfast burrito, and summer avocado toast.
If you're in the mood for lunch they serve a variety of salads and sandwiches from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., however, be sure to check their specials for a variety of the menu!
Blue House Bakery and Cafe is located at 305 Progress Way in Bryant.
