MORRILTON, Ark. — Petit Jean Mountain is home to around 300 tightly connected neighbors— and those who call this beautiful mountain home know the peace and tranquility that can only be found here at one of Arkansas’ most iconic places to enjoy fall foliage.
The vibrant reds, yellows, and oranges that dawn the landscape draw thousands of tourists to the area every fall, and ready to welcome the groves of leaf-peepers is Petit Jean Coffeehouse and Mercantile.
This quaint coffeehouse inside an A-frame home is the unofficial hub for all things Petit Jean for locals and visitors alike.
Owner, Stephanie Buckley and her family have loved Petit Jean for many years. As a family, they discussed what their cherished community needed the most and they agreed— a coffee shop!
“Coffee brings people together,” explained Buckley, something she’s genuinely proud of.
There’s something charmingly humble about this coffee shop. Petit Jean Mountain and the neighboring state park are an experience, and Stephanie is sure not to take away from that.
She carefully and intentionally crafted her shop to complement, not compete with the Petit Jean experience.
Aside from a couple of small tables, you won’t find spacious seating. Rather, your food will be served in a brown paper sack in hopes you’ll grab it and go enjoy the beautiful scenery of the mountains numerous trails and lake. Again, intentional.
No doubt now is the perfect time to visit the mountain. Stop in and grab a cup of coffee or hot chocolate to sip on as you drive the windy roads taking in the gorgeous fall colors. Or perhaps grab a scone or sandwich to enjoy after a rewarding hike!
Petit Jean Coffeehouse and Mercantile is located at 1482 Petit Jean Road in Morrilton.
