The Trident Food Truck

Owner and operator Jason Spurlock spent time with family in the U.K. and learned directly from the source how to prepare his food just like they do it in England.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — This week Eat it Up is back in downtown Little Rock at the Trident Food Truck, a very rare find for authentic English food in Arkansas.

They don't serve your standard tea and crumpets, but instead fish and chips the way it's done across the pond.

Owner and operator Jason Spurlock spent time with family in the U.K. and learned directly from the source how to prepare his food just like they do it in Britain!

"This is totally different than what I've done previously after working 20-plus years in restaurants. After Covid, we decided to go see family in England and every day for the most part we would eat fish and chips," he explained.

While spending time in England, Jason decided authentic fish and chips would be a big hit in Arkansas and decided to open Trident.

"Everybody loves fish and as soon as we got back we started to work on it and opened up the food truck and worked our way up," Spurlock added.

The menu is small but it's authentic as it gets.

"Fish butty and chips is a really popular sandwich and it's huge. The sandwich has fish, homemade coleslaw, and a chipotle tartar sauce that I make," he described. "Visitors can also order the fish and chips as well as the battered sausage and chips. Sides include coleslaw, chips (fries), battered sausage, and battered cod."

He added that the business is all about his family and their future.

"I want to make sure I have something left behind for my kids when I'm not around anymore. If college didn't work out for them, they have something to fall back on at the end of the day," Spurlock said.

Be sure to check the Trident Food Truck Facebook Page for updates every week on where you can find them.
