7-Brew Coffee & Gusano's Pizza | What central Arkansas restaurants are opening and closing

With 7-Brew Coffee breaking ground, Chicken Salad Chick expanding, and Gusano's Pizza closing their doors, central Arkansas' restaurant scene is rapidly changing.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — It’s an exciting time for Arkansas’ food scene. So many new restaurants are opening locations here and others are now expanding.

And while there’s been a lot of good food news, this week’s Eat It Up comes with a side of sad news regarding restaurant closures!

Here’s what’s changing!

Soon Little Rock will be home to two new brunch locations. Just announced this week is the opening of City Silo, a Memphis-based eatery whose goal is to “reimagine comfort food with wholesome, clean ingredients” regardless if you’re an “omnivore, vegan, or vegetarian”, according to their website.

City Silo will open in the former Pei Wei location in Little Rock’s Promenade sometime in 2023.

The Toasted Yolk is another popular mini-chain known for its delectable brunch menu. The company previously announced they’d open the doors sometime this month, but as of this week construction continues at the Chenal Parkway restaurant.

There's plenty coming to central Arkansas and one of the most exciting developments is an update on Wright’s BBQ.

You may remember Eat It Up broke the news that the popular northwest Arkansas-based BBQ joint had planned to expand into central Arkansas. Now, we know they’ll be moving into what is currently the HQ for Yellow Rocket Concepts in the Riverdale Community.

As for the date they plan to open their doors? Well, owner Jordan Wright, a Little Rock native, has previously told us they plan to open in 2023.

Speaking of expanding, Chicken Salad Chick, the popular mini-chain continues its rapid expansion into the central Arkansas market.

Their location in West Little Rock on Chenal Parkway is the latest to open it’s doors to the public, doing so this week.

That rapid expansion into central Arkansas is continuing with another business as well. 7-Brew Coffee has broken ground on its latest drive-thru coffee shop. This one will sit at the location previously home to Shorty Smalls on Rodney Parham.

There's been a ton of good news, but with that, also comes some bad news as well.

Just down the road used to sit Gusano’s Pizza, but that's not the case anymore.

The popular Chicago-style pizzeria has closed without explanation. This is the same location previously home to Grubbs.
