NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – Here at THV11 This Morning, we are continuing our BBQ Road Trip and our own Laura Monteverdi headed over the river to North Little Rock to the White Pig Inn.
The BBQ restaurant, located off Highway 70 has been in business for nearly a century.
Change is usually considered a good thing, but at White Pig Inn BBQ, that isn't the case.
“We do not change, in fact, we virtually don't accept change,” said owner, Greg Seaton.
Seaton is the man behind the helm, or in this case, the pit. His grandfather purchased the BBQ joint in the 1940’s and it has been in the family ever since.
“It has been here since 1920, it has been in my family since 1940, so that's like 77 years something like that. Coming up on 100,” said Seaton.
While the look of White Pig Inn has changed over the years, the taste has remained the same.
“Our pits are wood fired hickory only. There’s no temperature gauges. No timers. There’s no rotisserie in it. The meat is cooked directly over an open fire.”
It is just one of the many traditions that has kept this ship running for nearly a century, and has kept customers like Bob and Carol Curtis of Sherwood, returning.
“Oh I know since I was 21-years-old and I’m fixing to turn 70. Very long time,” said Bob Curtis.
“Connie, the waitress she knows us. She knows what we order when we walk in half the time,” said Carol Curtis.
“We love to hear the people that tell us it's the same as it always was. Now, to some folks, that might sound a little bit boring, but we appreciate that because we see that as a very high compliment,” said Seaton.
The White Pig Inn is open daily during the week for lunch.
