ARKANSAS, USA — The statewide gas price average in Arkansas has continued to fall for 31 consecutive days, providing much-needed relief for drivers at the pump.
According to the AAA Arkansas Weekend Gas Watch, the state's current gas price average is $2.87 for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel.
That price dropped eleven cents compared to this day last week and is ten cents less per gallon compared to this day last year.
“Arkansas gas prices have been declining for 31 consecutive days,” said AAA spokesperson Nick Chabarria. “Barring any major upheavals in the global oil and gas market, drivers can expect prices to fall as we approach the busy year-end holiday travel period.”
Out of the major metropolitan areas surveyed across the state, drivers in West Memphis pay the most on average at $2.93, while drivers in Jonesboro pay the least at $2.77 per gallon.
According to AAA historical gas prices, Arkansas's statewide gas price average fell below $3 per gallon on November 29, 2022, for the first time in 306 days.
Additionally, drivers across the state are seeing the lowest gas price average since October 2021.
Crude oil prices have hovered between $80 - $73 per barrel on the week, and have continued putting downward pressure on pump prices.
Arkansas drivers are currently paying the 3rd lowest gas price average in the country. Meanwhile, California drivers are paying the most at $4.62 on average for a gallon of regular unleaded.
The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.33. That price is 14 cents less than this day last week and one cent less than the price per gallon this time last year.
