98-year-old woman visits Pioneer Village in Arkansas to find her childhood home

Pioneer Village in Searcy has a log house, jail, school, post office and barn.

SEARCY, Arkansas — The Pioneer Village of Searcy takes you back into time with its old buildings and automobiles. Each building is filled with furniture and priceless items from that era.

There's a log house, school, post office, smokehouse, barn and much more. The "Little Red School" was used between 1885 and 1945. The log cabin was built even earlier in the 1870's. Over the last several decades, these buildings have been donated to the White County Historical Society and moved to the Pioneer Village site.

The Pioneer Village first opened in 1967 at the White County Fair Grounds. It's now located at 1200 Higginson Street in Searcy.

When THV11 visited the village, a 98-year-old was touring the buildings with her family. 98-year-old Juanita Johnson said she lived in the main cabin when she was a small girl.

"There was nothing fancy about it. You were camping out," said Johnson.
