Although country music star Ashley McBryde is no stranger to success, she couldn't help but be overjoyed over the news she heard via a phone call from Carrie Underwood this past weekend.
McBryde is an Arkansas-native, Grammy nominee and now the Academy of Country Music's New Female Artist of the Year following her album released in March of last year titled Girl Going Nowhere. The album features the song A Little Dive Bar in Dahlonega, was named one of the 54 Best Songs of 2017 by The New York Times.

According to the ACM website, she'll also be performing during the televised award ceremony.
According to the 2010 census, Mammoth Spring, the small northern town in Arkansas where McBryde was born, boasts a population of less than 1,000 residents. After attending Arkansas State University, McBryde moved to Nashville to pursue a country music career and went on to win the Country Showdown in 2009 and 2010.
