LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - It has become a reality for some Little Rock employees that if we all had to work in the city we lived, may of us would be out of a job.
A Little Rock City Council meeting was held Tuesday night to discuss whether Little Rock police officers should be forced to live within the city limits.
Some board members believe that this would limit qualified applicants if they're required to live within the city. Ordinance proposer Erma Hendrix says officers living in other cities doesn't make sense.
"Why do we have policemen that work in this city, live in another city and take the automobiles home. It doesn't make sense to me. And whether anybody up here wants to agree, it would be to me to have policemen living in a community that they police. I think it would be better communication."
A similar ordinance by Hendrix in 2012 would've required all city employees to have a Little Rock residency, but it was voted down unanimously.
The board is expected to vote on this new ordiance next week.
