Family-friendly events for New Year's Eve in central Arkansas

With just days away from 2024, the central Arkansas community is hosting a variety of family-friendly events to ring in the new year— including a ball drop!

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — We are just days away from 2024, and if you don’t have any plans yet, there are plenty of family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebrations happening around Central Arkansas.

If you've dreamed of watching the ball drop in person, you're in luck! Searcy will be hosting a ball drop for the seventh year in a row, while Benton will host its second annual celebration.

The ball in Benton is 10 ft. in diameter— just 2 ft. in diameter from the ball in Time Square! The city has partnered with Access Control Devices Incorporated to bring live music, a mechanical bull, a large kid’s area, and more to the event.

Organizers tried to plan the celebration with everyone in mind.

"We just want to provide a free event that is safe and something fun for families to get to come to on New Year's Eve. Since it's not as much of a kid-friendly holiday, we wanted to make sure that we could have something fun for kids, and adults, something for everybody of all ages," an event organizer stated.

The Benton New Year’s Eve event is free and begins at 7:30 p.m. at 403 N. Main Street. There will also be ten food trucks, a beer and wine truck, and hot cocoa for families to enjoy.

Over to Searcy, the 7th annual New Year's Eve ball drop will take place in their downtown area beginning at 9 p.m.

They are dubbing their event as a family-friendly downtown street party with live music. There will be a street dance party, a laser show, food trucks, and more.
