1 dead, 1 injured in North Little Rock shooting

Once officers arrived, they found two people suffering gunshot wounds, one of which was dead at the scene.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - On Sunday, Sept. 2, at 4:47am, North Little Rock Police officers responded to Healy Street to a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers located two victims. The victims have been identified as Sanford Slater Jr., 31, and Corey Tramel Edwards, 36.

Slater was transported to an area hospital where he is receiving treatment for possible life threatening injuries. Edwards was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsy.

Detectives are currently processing evidence and conducting interviews. This investigation is on-going and further information will be released when it becomes available.

This is the 13th homicide of 2018 in North Little Rock.
