CLEBURNE COUNTY, ARKANSAS, Ark. — A Cleburne County deputy was arrested Saturday morning after a sting operation revealed he was soliciting minors.
37-year-old Jacob Teele was arrested on one count of internet stalking of a child and one count of traveling for the purpose of an unlawful sex act with a minor.
"I am heartbroken that this news will likely come with a broken sense of trust between the community and our Sheriff's Office," Cleburne County Sheriff Chris Brown said. "While I can't wave a wand and fix that, I want our community to know that the actions of this one person don't speak for or represent the men and women that serve Cleburne County; they don't represent our heart or our dedication."
He is currently in the custody of the Faulkner County Sheriff's Office. Brown said the deputy was suspended, and they're drafting termination paperwork.
"I have spoken with many of the other employees of the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office this morning, and want the public to know that we collectively as a CCSO family were shocked, saddened, angry, and disappointed by the news," Cleburne County Sheriff Chris Brown said. "There is no excuse for this type of behavior, and we do not condone or tolerate such actions."
This is an ongoing investigation. We will update this story with more information as it becomes available.
