EUDORA, Ark. — Former Eudora Police Chief, 46-year-old Michael Pitts, pleaded no contest to third battery charges in connection to an alleged assault in Eudora in October of 2023.

The incident happened on Oct. 26, 2023, with Pitts being dispatched to a Eudora gas station on a request to remove a man "who was causing a disruption at the business."

Following the incident, Arkansas State Police investigators determined that Pitts had illegally detained 48-year-old John Hill Jr.

ASP said that Pitts had assaulted Hill and left him stranded after he transported him to a remote location in Chicot County.

In November of 2023 authorities investigated allegations of crimes committed by Chief Pitts the previous month. ASP later arrested Pitts on Jan. 30, 2024.

As a result, Pitts received a one-year suspended sentence and a $500 fine. He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim or the victim's family.
