CONWAY COUNTY, Ark. — Arkansas State Police announced that they have arrested a man in connection to illegal marijuana possession.

According to police, authorities took 44-year-old David Willis of Lower Lake, California into custody after conducting a traffic stop on Wednesday, August 21.

ASP said that the traffic stop happened around 4:40 p.m. that day, with Willis driving a rented black 2023 Chevrolet Malibu. Police said the initial stop happened eastbound on I-40 in Conway County for a traffic violation.

After searching the vehicle, police said that they found "multiple large trash bags in the trunk that contained vacuum-sealed bundles of illegal high-grade marijuana, weighing a total of 105 pounds."

Investigators said that Willis allegedly told them that he was traveling from California to Knoxville, Tennessee.

Following the discovery of the drugs, Willis was transported to the Conway County Detention Center and charged with drug possession and intent to deliver.
