Arkansas family seeks answers in murder of 17-year-old girl

An Arkansas woman is asking for answers and pleading for justice in the murder of her 17-year-old little sister.

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. — Typically, the eldest sibling is someone who oftentimes takes on a big role and more responsibilities— most of it involves caring for the needs of their other siblings.

However, sometimes that isn't always possible.

Kayla Pugh is someone who is normally full of solutions. Now, for the first time, she is all out of answers.

As much as she would want things to be different, she can't fix what happened to her youngest sibling.

Just over four months ago, Tamra Lois Holman was tragically murdered.

On June 30, 2024, the Jacksonville Police Department found the 17-year-old suffering from multiple gunshot wounds near the 1100 block of Heather Street.

She later succumbed to her injuries while at the hospital.

After months with no answers, Pugh is pleading for answers and for someone to come forward and turn themselves in.

"I'm really just praying every night that justice is served. I know it won't bring my sister back, but it will help me. I believe the rest of my family [would] just sleep at night and be at peace knowing the person behind it is in jail," Pugh described.

Pugh shared how her sister was known for having an outgoing personality, and for being a wonderful mother to her now 2-year-old son, Grayson.

"She dedicated most of her time to herself and also to her baby and just to her siblings, all together and family and friends," she added.

Wednesday, November 20, 2024, was a day marked with significance because it was the day that Holman would have turned 18 years old.

"She could light up a room when she comes in, she just was somebody that you'll just love to be around my siblings and I miss her dearly," Pugh explained.

Pugh said she wants to fulfill her last big sister duties by keeping Holman's name alive and by finding out who took the life of her baby sister.

"My siblings deserve to know. I deserve to know, and we know this won't bring her back, but it will provide closure to our family," she added.

Anyone with information regarding this fatal shooting is asked to contact Jacksonville police at (501) 985-2802 and reference report number 24-03332.
