Police make additional arrests, charges in Newport concert shooting

Newport Police announced on Wednesday that formal charges have now been filed against four people involved in the Newport concert shooting in February.

NEWPORT, Ark. — On Wednesday, the Newport Police Department announced that formal charges have been filed by the 3rd Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney’s Office against four people who were involved in a concert shooting in Newport.

The shooting that happened outside of a Fredo Bang concert held at the old Branch High School building on February 5 left 19-year-old Tamarionna Jarrett dead and four others wounded.

According to reports, on the day of the concert, both 28-year-old Aaron Warren and 31-year-old Richard Mcgee of Searcy were arrested for their involvement.

Since then detectives with NPD have conducted an investigation that has also led to the arrest of 21-year-old Tashawn Landers of Searcy/Little Rock and 18-year-old Steven Dye of Searcy.

Landers has been charged with 1st-degree murder, criminal attempt murder, (2 counts), terroristic act- class Y felony (two counts) terroristic act- class B felony(4 counts), and possession of a firearm by certain persons. 

He is being held on active felony probation with the ADC Division of Community Corrections and is currently out on bond in Pulaski County for the shooting of an on-duty Little Rock Police officer in 2020.

Dye has been charged with 1st-degree murder, criminal attempt murder (2 counts) terrorist act-class Y felony (2 counts), and terrorist act- class B felony (4 counts).

Both Mcgee and Warren were also charged for their involvement.

Mcgee has been charged with terrorist act- class B felony, and aggravated assault- class D felony (4 counts). 

Warren has been charged with terrorist act class B felony, aggravated assault- class D felony (4 counts). He is currently out on bond in White County for felony charges.
