TEXARKANA, Ark. — A teen set to be on trial for murder in Texarkana has now been arrested for leading police on a highspeed chase on Wednesday evening.

According to reports, at about 5:30 p.m. on October 2, both the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department and Arkansas State Police were pursuing a stolen vehicle near the intersection of Garland and Jefferson Avenues.

ASP was able to locate the stolen vehicle and the driver as they headed north on Jefferson. The suspect then turned onto I-30 while driving at nearly 100 mph. As the suspect tried to pass a vehicle, they then lost control of their vehicle and overturned in the median before the car came to a stop.

Troopers with ASP then arrested the 17-year-old male driver and they were taken to the hospital. Upon release, the teen was then taken to a juvenile detention center in Pine Bluff.

The identity of the suspect has not been released. However, reports show that he was set to be on trial next month for the first-degree murder of Kendrick Roquemore which happened in September 2023.

The 17-year-old now faces felony charges for theft of property and fleeing. He had previously been out on a $250,000 bond for the murder charge and it was revoked. A judge now added a new $250,000 bond for his theft and fleeing charges.
