ASP searching for driver in deadly Polk County hit-and-run involving cyclist

MENA, Ark. — Arkansas State Police are searching for a suspect involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident that happened on Thursday night.

According to reports, at about 9:30 p.m. on October 24, ASP troopers responded to the scene of an accident along State Highway 8 East near State Highway 375 and Lorelei Way. 

Once they arrived at the scene they discovered that an 18-year-old male cyclist had supposedly been traveling westbound in the center of the lane when he was struck by a vehicle.

The bicycle was then lodged under the vehicle and it was dragged about 60 to 90 feet before it was dislodged.

While the victim's identity has not been released, reports say that he died as a result of the accident.

No information has been released just yet regarding a suspect or possible vehicle.
