CAMDEN, Arkansas — The Camden Police Department has begun investigating a deadly shooting that occurred on Sunday at a local food mart.
According to authorities, the incident happened around 3:24 a.m. on Sept. 8 as officers were dispatched to Sahaj Food Mart located on Bradley Ferry Road.
Officers initially responded to the call due to reports of shots being fired. Upon their arrival to the scene, they found a man who had been shot. The victim was airlifted to UAMS, but later died due to his injuries.
During the course of the investigation, authorities identified Jalen McElroy as a suspect and issued a warrant before eventually taking him into custody.
Police have not yet released the name of the victim nor have they released any information on a possible motive behind the shooting.
