CONWAY, Ark. — Update: The case was dropped in September 2021.

A former University of Central Arkansas student was arrested Monday for allegedly raping another student in May 2019.

On May 26, 2019, the student allegedly invited the 19-year-old female victim into his UCA dorm room, gave her orange juice and allegedly raped her as she became unconscious.

The victim also told police the student said he and some friends were going to play video games in his room and asked if she wanted to join. When she agreed and followed him to his room, she told police nobody was there but the student.

When she asked him if other people were coming, he said there were, according to the victim's statement to UCA police.

It was then that he offered her a glass of orange juice, which she said tasted normal. Soon after the victim told police she remembers him trying to take clothes off of her but that "she didn't have enough strength to fight him off of her."

Documents state that the suspect allegedly raped her and she woke up at 5:30 a.m. the next morning and left.

The arrest affidavit states that the victim came to police two weeks later on June 13, 2019, telling officials that she didn't report right away because "she didn't want to believe that it happened."

When questioned, the alleged suspect told UCAPD that he and the alleged victim had consensual sex on the night in question after drinking mixed drinks of vodka and orange juice.

In a statement, the University of Central Arkansas confirmed that he was a resident advisor at the time the report was made. UCA also said that he was no longer employed and did not begin the fall semester enrolled at the university.

The suspect was served with an arrest warrant on February 17. UCAPD said he was arrested in Atlanta, where he was allegedly attending school.

This article has been updated to include that the case was dropped.
