HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — The Hot Springs Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that happened during the early morning hours of Wednesday.
According to reports, just before 2:30 a.m., officers were called to the 1300 block of Central Avenue with reports of shots having been fired.
Once officers arrived they found an unresponsive man, later identified as 43-year-old Nicholas Bland. Police say was lying in the front yard suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
They quickly began lifesaving measures until paramedics arrived. He was then taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police identified the shooting suspect as 24-year-old Dalton Childs, and he was taken to the Hot Springs PD so that they could interview him.
Childs was later charged with first-degree murder and is currently being held at the Garland County Detention Center.
