HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — We have new details about the man who shot at people with a BB gun from his truck on Central Avenue in Hot Springs.
Wednesday evening, we got several messages and calls from concerned viewers as people described a truck traveling down Central Avenue in broad daylight shooting and damaging several cars.
On Thursday, we requested the arrest affidavit for the man that police said did the shootings and here's what we found out.
Around 12:30 Wednesday afternoon, Hot Springs police were called to the Walmart where a man said he was followed around the parking lot by an old blue Chevy truck.
The man said the driver of the truck had a gun and shot at his car shattering the back window.
According to the arrest affidavit, at least 3 other cars were shot at along Central Avenue.
Police found the truck matching the description on Greenwood Avenue, but when they attempted to pull the truck over the driver fled.
Officers were eventually able to catch the driver, who we now know was Jason Lynch.
He has been charged with 4 counts of terroristic acts, 4 counts of criminal mischief, and fleeing.
Hot Springs City Director Phyllis Beard spoke to us after she learned Lynch was arrested in her district.
"This could have been a lot worse and thankfully to the Hot Springs Police Department for apprehending the suspect. It's just a reminder that whenever we are out and about going on with our daily lives that we just have to be really careful," said Beard.
According to public court records, Lynch has been in and out of jail and prison since 2009 on various drug and robbery charges.
He has three DWI convictions and, most recently, records show an arrest for assault and threatening his now-ex wife.
Lynch is expected to be in court Friday afternoon.
