Hot Springs woman arrested for aggravated robbery, attempted capital murder in Benton

Benton police say the woman ran over an 85-year-old man with a vehicle at a gas station near Highway 5 North and Kenwood just after midnight Saturday.

BENTON, Ark. — A 32-year-old Hot Springs woman was arrested in Benton for aggravated robbery and attempted capital murder, among other charges, just after midnight Saturday.

Benton police responded to a gas station near Highway 5 North and Kenwood after receiving reports of an aggravated robbery. When they arrived at the scene, officers found an 85-year-old man who had been "run over by a vehicle."

The Benton Police Department said the man was taken to the hospital, where he is expected to recover.

An initial investigation revealed Brittany Johnson of Hot Springs as the suspect, and she was arrested in Maumelle for aggravated robbery, theft of property, terroristic threatening, attempted capital murder, unauthorized use of another person's property to facilitate certain crimes and two counts of criminal mischief.

According to Benton police, Johnson also faces separate charges in Maumelle.
