PRAIRIE COUNTY, Ark. — According to Arkansas State Police, human remains were found in Prairie County that may be the body of a Cross County woman.
The remains were recovered Saturday from a crude grave site about nine miles north of Hazen and have been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory where the identity and manner of death will be determined.
Information tied to the disappearance of 42-year-old Christy Rooks of Wynne led law enforcement to farm property and a residence between Des Arc and Hazen. Law enforcement began searching the area two days prior to finding the remains.
Rooks’ car, a Nissan Altima, was located by Highway Patrol troopers yesterday in Cabot.
Police say 47-year-old Earl Parks of Hazen has been taken into custody and charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. Parks is being questioned by state police in connection to Rooks' disappearance.
The investigation is on-going. We will update this story as the investigation continues.
