LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Attorneys for an Arkansas teen charged with capital murder and other crimes in the robbery and killing of a couple who raised him as their grandson are asking that his case be moved to juvenile court.
Justin Staton, who is now 15, pleaded not guilty to capital murder and other charges in the shooting of Robert and Patricia Cogdell last July. A Faulkner County Circuit Court judge set a May 17 hearing date to consider whether Staton's case should be moved to juvenile court.
Staton was in court Tuesday for this and other motions including a request from prosecutors seeking access to Staton's iPod.
Prosecutors allege the teen and his friend, 18-year-old Hunter Drexler, robbed and shot the Cogdells, then dumped their bodies in a wooded area nearby.
