LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Little Rock police are now investigating a deadly hit-and-run that happened at Park Plaza Mall.
According to authorities, the incident happened around 3:30 p.m. on April 17, as an officer responded to reports of the hit-and-run.
Officers said when they arrived on the scene, they found an unresponsive 79-year-old pedestrian, later identified as Gayle Sipes, on the ground outside of the Dillard's entrance.
Sipes was then transported by local paramedics, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The car involved in the incident fled from the scene, according to reports.
Little Rock police said that charges have yet to be filed and that the investigation is ongoing.
Park Plaza released the following statement regarding the incident:
“Our deepest sympathies go out to the individual and their family. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement on this investigation and have provided them with access to our security footage. The safety of our guests remains our top priority."
