CONWAY, Ark. — A federal fugitive who was on the run for more than eight months after escaping a prison in St. Louis was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Eastern Arkansas Fugitive Task Force (EATF) in Conway on Monday.
EATF said Markel Hutton was serving a 51-month sentence for pulling out a gun during carjacking when he escaped custody on November 3, 2023.
After an investigation, the EATF learned Hutton "likely fled to central Arkansas," where he was located and arrested without incident.
Hutton is awaiting return to the Eastern District of Missouri, where he will face additional charges related to his escape and serve the remainder of his original sentence.
