Missouri murder suspect found dead months after mother's head found in back of truck

The body of Aaron Goodwin was located early this week in a wooded area outside of Hot Springs, who was a suspect in the murder of his mother.

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — According to the Vernon County Sheriff's Office, the body of Aaron Goodwin was located on Saturday, March 6 in a wooded area outside of Hot Springs, Ark.

Hot Springs police responded to the wooded area near the 300 block of Columbia Hills Street in reference to human remains being discovered by hikers.

The body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime lab for examination and identification and was later confirmed to be 38-year-old Aaron Enoch Goodwin, of Deerfield, Missouri.

This comes nearly five months after being named the sole suspect in a homicide case in Missouri.

Goodwin was wanted by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office for the murder of his mother, Connie Goodwin, who was found in her home on October 28, 2020.

Later that same day in Hot Springs, Ark., police responded to 544 Malvern Avenue in reference to a suspicious package.

Officers discovered partial human remains inside of a trash bag in the back of a pickup truck.

The owner of the pickup truck was interviewed, and during the investigation, it was learned that the trash bag was placed into the back of the truck at a local hotel the night before.

The remains located in the back of the truck was later determined to be the head of Goodwin's mother.

Police say Goodwin's cause of death was ruled to be suicide.
