Mother and her 2-year-old killed in double homicide in southwest Little Rock

Police say it occurred at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27.

UPDATE- The Little Rock Police Department has announced that they have arrested Jalisa Jenkins for the double homicide. She was issued with an arrest warrant on April 14, 2020, by US Marshals.

Little Rock police are investigating a double homicide that occurred 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27 at Eagle Hill and Par Drive.

According to police, a woman and a child were found in a parking lot on Par Drive. Police identified the victims as 23-year-old Jameika Lewis and 2-year-old Ja'Shun Watson, who are mother and son.

When police arrived on scene, they saw Lewis and Watson deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. The bodies have been taken to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy.

Police also located an infant female child in a vehicle next to the victims, and she was taken to a local hospital for a welfare check.

People living near and around the Eagle Hill community are left shocked.

"It's close to home, it's bad for the community itself,” said John Goss, who lives across the street from the crime scene. "For something to happen this close, we are overlooking something, and we need to find what that oversite is.”

They have questions as Little Rock crime seeps into what they call their quiet neighborhood.

"There's a lot of senseless deaths going on,” said Goss. “We are just going to have to pick it up, you know. I know the police presence is a big thing, but it's going to take the community to stop what's going on at this point.

No suspect has been named at this time. If you have any information you are asked to contact the Little Rock Police Department.
