North Little Rock police make arrest in fatal shooting of 4-year-old girl

North Little Rock police have now made an arrest in the fatal shooting of a 4-year-old girl.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — North Little Rock police are investigating after a 4-year-old was fatally shot on Friday.

According to police, the incident happened around 8:27 a.m. on August 9, as authorities responded to calls of a shooting at home on Water Street.

When authorities arrived, they found the 4-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound. Police said that they transported the child to a local hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries. 

North Little Rock police arrested the child's mother, 25-year-old Bethany McManis, on charges of manslaughter and first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.

She has been taken to the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility where she is being held without bond.
