One dead after shooting at Club 428 in Little Rock, man arrested

Officers said they found 39-year-old Patrick Smith inside the business, suffering from gunshot wounds.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark — According to the Little Rock Police Department, officers responded to a shots fired call at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Saturday at Club 428.

Upon arrival, officers say they found 39-year-old Patrick Smith inside the business suffering from gunshot wounds. Smith was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Homicide detectives began interviewing several patrons and a description was given of the suspect who had fled the scene. 

Police identified Marlo Atkins as the suspect. He has been arrested and charged with murder in the first degree and possession of a firearm.

The Pulaski County Coroners Office responded to UAMS and transported Smith’s body to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy.

Police believe this to be an isolated event and not targeted toward Club 428.
