Pine Bluff police investigating fatal Christmas Eve shooting

The shooting happened around 2 a.m. on the morning of Christmas Eve on South Blake Street and one person is dead.

PINE BLUFF, Ark. — The Pine Bluff Police Department is investigating an early morning Christmas Eve shooting where one person has died.

Officers were called to the 1300 block of South Blake Street around 2 a.m. in reference to a shooting. Once there, police found a blood trail and shell casings, but no victim.

Then around 2:23 a.m., 41-year-old William Earl Burnett was found at a local hospital with a single gunshot wound by an off-duty officer.

Burnett would die at the hospital due to his injuries.

No suspects have been named at this time.
