Police investigate after deputies respond to deadly shooting in Grant County

According to Grant County Sheriff Ray Vance, at 2:42 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, deputies responded to multiple calls of an armed disturbance in the Grapevine area, near the intersection of Highways 213 and 19.

GRANT COUNTY, Arkansas — According to Grant County Sheriff Ray Vance, at 2:42 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, deputies responded to multiple calls of an armed disturbance in the Grapevine area, near the intersection of Highways 213 and 19.

Upon arrival, deputies found one person dead and encountered an armed suspect that began to fire shots. The deputies returned fire, and the suspect was wounded.

The suspect and another citizen, who was also hurt before deputies arrived, were transported to the hospital.

No deputies were injured. 

Grant County Sheriff Ray Vance said all suspects are in custody.

"It's a really little sleepy neighborhood that things like this do not happen in Grapevine, Arkansas," Sheriff Vance said. "It usually don't happen in Grant County, Arkansas. So and we wanted to make sure there's going to be no loose ends left in this."

Police did not release the identity of anyone involved, but said those names and other details surrounding the case should be available in the days ahead.

A joint investigation is being conducted with the Grant County Sheriff's Office and the Arkansas State Police.
