BENTON, Ark. — Authorities in Saline County are currently investigating a deadly shooting that happened around 10:00 p.m. on April 20.
According to police, the incident happened on Arch Street Pike on Saturday. Authorities said that they arrived on scene and made contact with the driver of vehicle of made the initial call to authorities — once there, police found an unresponsive 19-year-old in the passenger seat of the driver's car.
The 19-year-old victim was treated at the scene and was transported to UAMS by MEMS, but he later succumbed to his injuries.
According to police, the driver of the vehicle said that people in a second vehicle shot at them, which is when the 19-year-old was struck.
The driver also stated that the vehicle that shot at them was one that he had previously filed a report on for harassment.
The driver provided videos and pictures he took of the vehicle previously which led deputies to uncover the identity of the suspects that were identified as 20-year-old Jayeson Ashley. He is being charged with aggravated assault, 1st degree battery, and 2nd degree murder.
His sister 24-year-old Ceara Force was also taken into custody for obstruction and hindering apprehension.
