Man that led manhunt in Arkansas charged in third murder

According to District Attorney Jack Thorp, Drake is now charged with the murder of Phillip Emerson in Canadian County, Oklahoma.

SEQUOYAH COUNTY, Okla. — Stacy Lee Drake, an accused murderer who was arrested in Arkansas after a manhunt that crossed state lines, has been formally charged with a third murder.

According to District Attorney Jack Thorp, Drake is now charged with the murder of Phillip Emerson in Canadian County, Oklahoma.

Other new charges were also introduced, including two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, one count of possession of a stolen vehicle, and one count of pattern of criminal offenses.

Drake is accused of killing someone in Alabama earlier this year, as well as killing two employees at LaFerry's Propane in Gans, Oklahoma, in June.

Arkansas State Police said Drake had stolen a car after the Sequoyah County double homicide. That vehicle had been found at a hotel in Morrilton, which was believed to be his last known location.

The El Reno Police Department is accusing Drake of killing Emerson in his residence and fleeing in Emerson's vehicle on June 14.

Police say that Emerson's brother went to check on him after not hearing from him for a while, but when he got to his house, he found his brother dead.

Neighbors later told Emerson's brother that he had become friends with Drake while attending AA meetings.

El Reno police say they didn't have a motive, but they know Drake was a suspect once Emerson's brother reported a truck missing.

"It was a huge piece that helped tie the victim to what turned out to be Mr. Drake," said El Reno Police Chief Ken Brown.

Police say they think Drake took the truck and drove it to Gans to kill his next two victims.
