Police make two arrests in deadly Camden shooting

The Camden Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that happened during the early morning hours of Sunday.
As they deal with a troubling few weeks of violence, law enforcement in Camden are speaking out about how they plan to respond to the recent crimes.

CAMDEN, Ark. — The Camden Police Department is now investigating a fatal shooting incident that happened during the early morning hours of Sunday.

According to reports, at about 1:40 a.m., Camden police were dispatched to the Ivory Heights community with reports of a victim that had been shot.

The identity of the male victim has not yet been released but police said he was airlifted to UAMS for treatment where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

During the investigation, police were able to identify Marcus Epps as a suspect.

Officers went to a home in Camden for a follow up as part of the investigation, and the homeowner, Trameisha Tooks, was allegedly noncompliant. Police then issued a search warrant for the home and an arrest warrant for Epps.

While conducting the search, officers took Epps into custody on a capital murder charge, and also arrested Tooks for hindering the apprehension of a suspect who was wanted for capital murder.
