EL DORADO, Ark. (AP) - A jury in El Dorado has convicted an Oklahoma woman in the theft of five horses and equipment from the Southern Arkansas University rodeo team stables.
The jury deliberated about a half hour Wednesday before convicting Wendi Cox in the November 2011 theft of the horses, a trailer and tack. The Banner-News reports Cox was sentenced to 60 years in prison.
Prosecutors say Cox helped plan the theft - even drawing a diagram of which horses to take. Cox's daughter, Jaci Jackson, is also charged in the case.
Cox's attorney, John Stroud, told jurors that prosecutors were "overreaching" in charging Cox.
Four of the horses were found malnourished and emaciated in McCurtain County in Oklahoma. The fifth horse, named Credit Card, was found dead with its throat cut.
