ATKINS, Ark. — Atkins School District campuses will increase police presence on Sept. 20 as authorities investigate "various and vague" threats.
The school district posted a note on its Facebook page stating that it has multiple safety protocols, including armed staff members on every campus.
"We are aware of the various and vague threats that have been circulating our area," Atkins Public Schools said. "Our district has multiple safety protocols in place, including armed staff members on every campus that are ready and prepared to protect our students and staff, if the need arises. Additional police presence will also be in place."
Parents and students are encourages to report any concerns to school administration.
"If you become aware of any information that concerns you, please report it immediately to school officials," Atkins Public Schools said. "Safety, is and will always be, our top priority."
